Flipr AnalysR

What does Flipr measure?

Flipr measures several key parameters related to pool water quality, including:

1. pH level – The acidity or alkalinity of the water.

2. ORP (Oxidation-Reduction Potential) – The water’s ability to disinfect and maintain clean water.

3. Water temperature – The current temperature of the pool water.

4. Chlorine or Bromine level – The amount of disinfectant in the water.

All these measurements are monitored in real-time, and Flipr provides maintenance recommendations via its mobile app.

In addition, Flipr can work with test strips to measure:

TAC (Total Alkalinity)

TH (Total Hardness)

Stabilizer level (Cyanuric acid)

What does Flipr not measure?

While Flipr is designed to measure and optimize your pool’s water quality, it does not measure certain key parameters, including:

1. Water pressure – The pressure exerted in the pipes or filtration equipment. Flipr’s not a plumber, so if your pool is experiencing low water pressure, it’s time to call in the professionals—not just your pool sensor.

2. Turbidity – The clarity of the water or the presence of suspended particles. If your pool water is green, cloudy, or filled with algae, Flipr won’t be able to clean it up for you—grab your skimmer net and start the clean-up!

3. Water level – The volume of water in your swimming pool. Flipr tracks water chemistry but can’t help you top up your pool if the water is too low. Keep your pool full to avoid unnecessary filtration issues.

4. Salinity – The concentration of salt in your pool water (except for saltwater pools, but Flipr doesn’t measure salinity directly). For salt pools, remember to monitor your salt levels separately to avoid water quality issues.

And here are a few more fun things Flipr definitely does not measure (but probably shouldn’t!):

5. Poolside Dance Moves – While Flipr excels at analyzing your pool’s water quality, we can’t help you with your dance moves during pool parties. However, we won’t stop you from showing off your best moves while the water is perfectly balanced!

6. Algae Mood – We can measure your pool’s chemistry, but we can’t predict when algae will decide to take over your pool. If the water turns green, it’s time for a deeper clean and to check the chlorine levels!

7. Chlorine’s Attitude – Flipr tracks the amount of chlorine in your pool, but it doesn’t measure if your chlorine is feeling a little “extra” or mellow today. If your pool is struggling with algae growth, increasing your chlorine levels might be the solution!

8. Perfect Pool Napping Temperature – Flipr provides real-time water temperature, but we’re not the best judge of your perfect poolside nap conditions. We recommend somewhere around 78°F for both you and your pool’s health.

9. Frequency of Pool Parties – Flipr is great at monitoring pool water quality, but we’re not keeping track of your social calendar or how many pool parties you’ve thrown this month. Just remember, more chlorine might be needed after a big pool party to avoid green water!

However, Flipr can process the following values if they are provided via test strips, allowing you to take a deeper dive into pool maintenance:

TAC (Total Alkalinity) – The total alkalinity of your pool water. Flipr ensures your pool’s pH is balanced to avoid water issues like algae blooms. A well-maintained pH level can help prevent green water caused by algae.

TH (Total Hardness) – The total hardness of your pool water. With the right balance of calcium, your pool’s water will be crystal clear and less prone to cloudy water and algae growth.

Stabilizer level (Cyanuric acid) – The stabilizer level in your pool, which helps protect chlorine from degrading too quickly in the sunlight. Proper stabilizer levels help keep your pool water clean and algae-free, even during those sunny, hot days.

These values, when combined with Flipr’s real-time monitoring, can help prevent common pool problems like algae growth, green water, and water imbalances. We do the heavy lifting to ensure your pool stays healthy, so you can just jump in and enjoy!

What is Flipr Connect? Is Flipr WiFi-enabled?

Yes, Flipr is WiFi-enabled. Flipr Connect is a gateway that retrieves the data measured and transmitted by Flipr AnalysR. It combines long-range Bluetooth and WiFi technology, allowing you to monitor your pool’s water quality remotely and in real time.

Flipr Connect ensures stable and accurate data transmission, even when the Flipr device is far from your WiFi router. It is compatible with WiFi 6, which provides enhanced connectivity and reliability.

How does Flipr AnalysR connect?

It depends on the model you are using:

Flipr AnalysR 3

Flipr AnalysR 3 uses two types of connections:

Long-range Bluetooth (average 10m range)

Long-range Wi-Fi, powered by Flipr Connect technology

Flipr Connect is the new connection technology for Flipr AnalysR 3. Based on Wi-Fi, it allows you to stay connected to your pool even if there is no Wi-Fi near the water.

Flipr Connect is included with Flipr AnalysR 3, with no subscription required. It comes as a small device that plugs into a power outlet via a USB cable (included).

To use it, place Flipr Connect in an area covered by your home Wi-Fi, within 40 meters of the pool. Measurements are sent automatically, with a frequency of 2 to 700 readings per day depending on your app settings (note: higher frequency impacts battery life!).

Flipr AnalysR 2
Data updates via:

Bluetooth connection (average 3m range)

Sigfox network for remote access

Sigfox is a dedicated IoT telecommunications network (like Orange or SFR but for connected devices). Flipr AnalysR can send up to 20 readings per day automatically, depending on Sigfox coverage quality over your pool.

This allows you to receive pool data even from the other side of the world. The connection is already set up in your Flipr AnalysR, so no additional configuration is required.

This service is included, with no options or subscription needed.

However, you must ensure that Sigfox coverage is available in your area.

I don’t have Wi-Fi near my pool: What can I do?

This article applies to Flipr AnalysR 3. No worries! We specifically designed Flipr Connect for this situation. Flipr Connect is the new connection technology used by Flipr AnalysR 3. Based on Wi-Fi, Flipr Connect allows you to stay connected to your pool even if there is no Wi-Fi signal near the water.

Flipr Connect is included with Flipr AnalysR 3 and requires no subscription. It comes as a small device that plugs into a power outlet via a USB cable (included). To set it up, place Flipr Connect in an area of your home that is covered by your Wi-Fi network and within 40 meters of the pool.

Data readings are automatically sent, with a frequency of 2 to 700 readings per day, depending on the settings you choose in the app. (Note: Higher frequency impacts battery life!) So, even without Wi-Fi near your pool, your Flipr AnalysR stays connected and can transmit up to 700 measurements per day based on your app settings.

What are the differences between Flipr AnalysR, Flipr Start, and Flipr Start Max?

Flipr AnalysR is the latest model of Flipr’s connected water analyzers. This model has been available since February 1, 2022.

Flipr Start and Flipr Start Max are older models that were launched in 2019 and discontinued on December 31, 2021.

Older models such as Flipr 2, Flipr 1, Flipr Pro, and Flipr Spa were first released in 2016 but have not been sold since 2019. We do not recommend purchasing these models, even second-hand.

Which treatments are compatible with Flipr AnalysR?

Flipr AnalysR is compatible with pools treated with chlorine, bromine, and salt (electrolysis).

Regarding chlorine treatments, Flipr AnalysR works with both stabilized and non-stabilized chlorine. However, stabilized chlorine has the major drawback of introducing stabilizer into the pool. When present in high concentrations, stabilizer can distort chlorine level readings. If this happens, Flipr AnalysR may have difficulty detecting chlorine levels accurately. In such cases, we recommend contacting our customer support. You may also need to take corrective actions to regulate the stabilizer level (a partial pool drainage is the only solution).

Additionally, high stabilizer levels can cause significant water instability over time, increasing the risk of cloudy or green water. The effects of excess stabilizer on swimmers remain unknown to this day.

I have a pool cover: Can I still use Flipr AnalysR?

Flipr AnalysR is designed not to interfere with pool covers. Its curved shape allows it to automatically move underneath the cover when it closes.

Note: Since Flipr AnalysR will be fully submerged once the cover is closed, it may stop transmitting signals. However, it will reconnect and resume data transmission shortly after the cover is opened.

For pools with covers, we recommend using the Flipr Bypass accessory. Flipr Bypass allows you to install Flipr AnalysR on your pool’s piping, ensuring continuous data transmission regardless of whether your cover is open or closed.

Can Flipr AnalysR Work Under a Pool Enclosure?

Under a pool enclosure, the signal may be affected. With Flipr Connect, the range between the device and the Flipr Connect module might be reduced by approximately 10 meters, depending on your Wi-Fi coverage and the materials of your enclosure.

The best and safest way to know is to test it! You have 30 days to try Flipr AnalysR at home, including testing the connection. If it doesn’t meet your expectations, simply return it for a full refund.

Alternatively, you can use the Flipr Bypass accessory, which installs Flipr AnalysR directly onto your pool’s piping, helping avoid signal interference caused by the enclosure.

Can Flipr AnalysR Be Removed from the Water?

Absolutely not! Flipr AnalysR must remain in constant contact with water at all times. If you need to remove it from your pool for maintenance, make sure to immediately place it in a container filled with water, preferably the same water from your pool.

⚠️ Warning: Leaving the device out of the water can damage the sensors and voids the manufacturer’s warranty.

Can I Leave Flipr AnalysR in the Water All Year Round?

Absolutely! Flipr AnalysR can stay in the water all year long and will adjust its recommendations based on the season and the winterization method you choose for your pool.

However, the device’s sensors are sensitive to freezing temperatures. For safety reasons, we recommend removing Flipr AnalysR from the water when the temperature drops below 7°C.

The Flipr app will send frost alerts and remind you to take the device out of the water until the freezing period is over.

Can Flipr AnalysR Be Placed in the Skimmer?

Yes, you can place Flipr AnalysR in the skimmer if it is large enough. However, we do not recommend it for the following reasons:

Chlorine tablets are often placed in the skimmer, which could distort chlorine analysis results.

Debris and residues that accumulate in the skimmer may also affect some readings.

• Placing Flipr AnalysR in the skimmer or roller shutter compartment can interfere with data transmission via the Sigfox or WiFi network.

If you prefer not to have the device floating in the pool, you can install Flipr AnalysR directly on your pool’s plumbing using the Flipr Bypass accessory.

Can Flipr AnalysR Be Fixed to the Pool Wall?

Flipr AnalysR is designed to float freely in the water and move naturally within your pool. However, if you prefer a fixed position, it can be attached to the wall.

The “Fix’n’Swim” mounting system is compatible only with fiberglass pools that have a perfectly smooth surface. Using it on other surfaces, such as liners or large tiles, is at the user’s own discretion and responsibility. The mounting system is available for purchase directly on our website.

Additionally, this fixing system is specially designed for use with roller shutters. Its unique pivoting mechanism allows Flipr AnalysR to slide under the shutter when it closes, eliminating the need to remove the device. However, once under the roller shutter, Flipr AnalysR may no longer transmit data, and you will need to wait for the shutter to reopen for the device to reconnect.

Can Flipr AnalysR Be Installed on the Pool’s Pipe System?

Yes! You can install Flipr AnalysR directly on your pool’s piping using our exclusive accessory, Flipr Bypass.

Can Flipr AnalysR Be Used in a Spa?

Absolutely! Flipr AnalysR can be used in both a pool and a spa.

However, using the same Flipr AnalysR for both your pool and spa may have some drawbacks:

App settings need to be adjusted each time you switch between the pool and spa (e.g., basin size, treatment type).

Alerts and dosage recommendations may be inaccurate, as the app may struggle to determine the correct chemicals for each basin. It might suggest spa products for your pool and vice versa.

Frequent recalibration of the sensors may be required. Changes in water and treatments can cause premature sensor drift, requiring recalibration multiple times per season.

Data mix-up in the history log: Flipr AnalysR will combine Pool and Spa data, which can cause confusion in graphs and predictive recommendations.

Caution: Water temperatures above 39°C (102°F) can damage the battery and internal components of Flipr AnalysR. If your spa operates at high temperatures, we recommend removing Flipr AnalysR when the temperature exceeds this limit.

If you own both a pool and a spa, we strongly recommend using two Flipr AnalysR devices. Contact our team—we offer special bundle deals!

How to Maintain Flipr AnalysR?

Maintaining Flipr AnalysR (Model 2 or Model 3) is very simple:
